How can I update the firmware of my SMS Gateway?
❕ Before updating always backup your configuration!
ê Updates smaller than version 22.00 can only be done via option Update the Firmware via Recovery Image. Online update is not possible.
Updates from version 22.00 can be made via the update image and via the WEB interface.
i Multiple reboots will occur only during the first boot sequence since version 4.0.4.
From version 4.0.0 there are a few ways to upgrade the SMS Gateway.
Previous versions and update to version 22.00 have to use the first option Update the Firmware via Recovery Image.
1. Flash with Recovery Image (all versions)
The most current software version for your SMS Gateway as well as instructions on installation can be obtained at https://my.brevis.one.

ê When upgrading by flashing, all configurations are lost.
❕ From Version 4 on the HTTP API is only accessible over HTTPS.
Cause of this you have to update the plugin of your external monitoring systems. For more details you can visit Centreon, Icinga 2 and Nagios or Icinga 1.
The following options are available for previous versions: You have to save your configurations before flashing. With Version 4.0.0 you can use the Configuration Export/Import to save.
- Import and export contacts
- Import and export the configuration of the monitoring module
- Import and export the license file
i You will need your SMS Gateway serial number. The serial number is located on the SMS Gateway and starts with "GWX-xxxxxx", “DX1-xxxxxx” or “RX2-xxxxxx”(Where can I find the serial number of my SMS Gateway?).
2. Online-Upgrade via the SMS Gateway (from version 4.0.0)
ê Update to version 22.00 can only be done via option Update the Firmware via Recovery Image. Online update is not possible.
i Under Configuration - Software update you can start the Online-Update.
Click on Download to open an overview with possible updates. As soon as a version has been selected, the SMS Gateway starts the update.
❕ Since an internet connection is necessary it can lead to long loading times.
3. Update via Update Image (from version 4.0.0)
ê Update to version 22.00 can only be done via option Update the Firmware via Recovery Image. Online update is not possible.
The latest software version for your SMS Gateway can be obtained at https://my.brevis.one.
i You will need your SMS Gateway serial number. The serial number is located on the SMS Gateway and starts with "GWX-xxxxxx", “DX1-xxxxxx” or “RX2-xxxxxx”(Where can I find the serial number of my SMS Gateway?).
After logging in with your serial number you can download the latest software version as Update Image.
Under Configuration - Software update you can start the Update.
Upload the *.bin file to the SMS Gateway. To upload the file you can drag and drop it into the field after Upload software manually.
After the upload the SMS Gateway starts with the upgrade.
